Loano is a small town situated half way between Genoa and France, on the Ligurian Sea. It is the ideal place for both summer and winter holidays because of its very pleasant weather, mild and dry. The town has developed around Doria Castle and the Medieval Village without changing the main features of the original place.
In fact one can still walk along the characteristic “caruggi” (very narrow roads between long rows of houses) and come across a small “piazza” from time to time. Loano offers to the tourist different accommodation facilities, a long beach, a promenade by the sea with palm-trees and gardens, a very well equipped marina that appeals yachts owners.
Loano has been declared “European Town of Sport” by the European Union because of its sport facilities.
Inside the “Palazzetto dello Sport” there are basket and volley ball fields, two indoor swimming-pools, a martial art gym, an outdoor water slide and an outdoor Olympic swimming-pool.
In Loano there are also tennis courts, a football ground and a bowling-alley. Therefore the town can be the host of national as well as international sport events.
